This pedestrian street, which runs parallel to the port and is lined with restaurants and coffee shops, is popular with visitors due to the magnificent glass balconies of the buildings that overlook the sea, earning the city its nickname of the <\/span>\u201cCity of Glass<\/b>\u201d. However, in actual fact, these fa\u00e7ades are really the rear of the houses, the front of which look onto Mar\u00eda Pita Square.<\/span><\/p>\n

The avenue takes us to the <\/span>Parrote Viewpoint<\/b>, which boasts magnificent views of the entire bay and San Ant\u00f3n Castle.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Mar\u00eda Pita Square<\/span><\/h3>\n

This is <\/span>La Coru\u00f1a\u2019s best-known square <\/b>and the heart of its historic quarter. In the middle of the square stands a statue of the local heroine, Mar\u00eda Pita, and facing it is the <\/span>City Hall<\/b>, where the council meets.
